Tour Description: Arrive into Whittier, coming in on the 9:30 AM tunnel opening.  Make your way up to our boathouse, nestled away from the congestion of the harbor area.  Your guide will greet you and start outfitting you in the proper clothing and boots needed for this paddle into the ice.  After a personal fitting into the kayaks, your guide will give you some brief instruction on getting into and out of the kayak, along with a safety talk.  We then proceed to the dock where our water taxi awaits to whisk us off on our ride and sightseeing trip out to Blackstone Bay.  Keep your eyes open for distant glaciers, eagles, sea otters, and seals.  The boat Captain detours for the occasional whale sighting which is always exciting.  Arriving at the beach, we'll load the kayaks with our gear and lunch and depart for our first tidewater glacier.  As we get close, our kayaks are cutting through small chunks of floating ice called "bergy bits".  You'll be in awe of our magnificent surroundings, relaxing and having plenty of opportunity to capture photos to share with friends and family.  Our journey proceeds to a beach for a hearty lunch and break out of the kayaks.  Afterward, we continue to yet another couple of glaciers and a chance to walk up to one to show you the drastic retreat, obvious over the last 30 years that we've been kayaking these waters.  Our water taxi arrives and after a short stop at the Black-legged Kittiwake Rookery, gets us back to Whittier in time to depart on the 5 or 6 PM tunnel opening.
